HighLevel Updates: August 2026 Roundup
August put Anthropic and Google models inside workflow AI agents, gave calendars an AI setup flow and three duration options, and closed the month with Certificate AI, per-workflow email sender domains and targeted agency announcement banners.

August 2026 opened with a WhatsApp overhaul and did not slow down. Around a hundred releases landed across the month. The pattern is consistent: AI got cheaper and more configurable, the workflow builder got easier to write in, migration friction dropped, and the booking experience stopped being one-size-fits-one.
This roundup covers the full month, August 1 to 29. For the channel deep-dives these releases extend, our feature guides are linked throughout.
Client Portal and calendars: how clients book and pay
Appointments landed in the Client Portal on August 17. Clients can now book, view, reschedule and cancel appointments without leaving the portal, with Today, Upcoming and Past views plus a full calendar. Their contact details prefill the booking form, and if you expose more than one calendar they choose which one to book. A Book Again shortcut appears after a completed appointment. You control which of these options are available.
Calendars themselves changed four times in the final ten days. Calendar AI arrived on August 20. Instead of picking a calendar type, you describe what you need in plain language and it recommends and creates the calendar, adds team members, sets availability, picks a meeting location and shows a live preview. You can book a test appointment at the end of the flow. HighLevel says slot troubleshooting is next, so Calendar AI will be able to explain why a specific slot is missing from your booking widget.
Then on August 25, a single calendar started supporting up to three meeting durations. Fifteen, thirty and sixty minute options no longer need three separate calendars. Bookers pick a length on the booking page and availability refreshes to show only slots that fit it. It works on web and mobile booking pages, Neo and Classic widgets, in-app booking and the mobile app, and the duration can be changed when rescheduling. Editing your duration options never modifies or cancels existing appointments.
Guest details became configurable on August 26. Guests used to be name and email only. Each calendar can now collect name and email, name and phone, all three, or guest count only when you do not want guest contacts created at all. When details are collected, a contact is created or matched on the email or phone supplied. New calendars default to all three fields. Existing calendars keep name and email, so nothing changes on live booking pages. Guest contacts now inherit the primary contact timezone instead of the business timezone.
A day later the date range setting picked up a Count available days only toggle across Meeting calendars, Services and Rentals. A business closed at weekends with a two-day range used to show an empty calendar on Fridays. With the toggle on, the window skips days outside your availability and extends to Monday and Tuesday instead. It also starts counting after any minimum scheduling notice expires, so bookers always see the full number of days you configured. Round robin and collective calendars count a day as available when at least one assigned member is free, and date-specific hour overrides are respected.
- Collect Card on File is now its own calendar payment option, separate from charging upfront. Cards are saved without a transaction, and a booking that reaches zero after a 100% coupon skips card collection entirely
- Invoice and estimate notifications now appear in the portal notification center, so clients see billing activity without waiting on email
- Graceful OTP fallback when a magic link expires, instead of a dead end
- Course announcements for membership and course clients
- Reschedule links generate straight from an appointment, and week start preferences now apply consistently across calendars
The workflow builder gets a real editing upgrade
The week of August 18 was about writing workflows faster. Dynamic values now render as chips inside text fields, so you can tell them apart from static text at a glance. Type a forward slash to search and insert a custom value without leaving the box. Stale or unrecognized values are highlighted in red. This is a display change only, so nothing about how values resolve at run time has changed.
The following week added reach. Bulk automation for Companies and Custom Objects shipped on August 26. Select records in the list view, click Trigger Automation, pick a workflow and confirm. Progress and per-record results are tracked under Bulk Actions. Renewal runs on policies, onboarding on companies and one-off jobs on imported records no longer have to wait for a fresh trigger event to fire naturally.
- Array and list values work in text fields. Pick a list such as order line items or an inbound webhook collection, choose which field to extract, then format it as comma-separated, bulleted, numbered or joined by your own separator
- Badge automation shipped on August 21. An Issue Badge action awards a badge when your conditions are met, and a Badge Issued trigger starts a workflow the moment one is awarded, so recognition can drive the next message, update or automation
- Forms, surveys and quizzes can be scheduled as of August 27. Set an open time, a close time and a timezone, then decide what visitors see before it opens and after it closes, either a custom page or a redirect to another URL. Event registrations, flash sales and contests stop accepting submissions on their own
- Custom fields grouping and bulk management also arrived in forms, surveys and quizzes, so you can search, multi-select and drop fields onto the canvas as a group
- Create and Update Record picklists accept dynamic values again
- Update Contact Field can append to multi-select fields instead of overwriting them
- Pinned and recent tabs now match the workflow type you are editing
- Message ID is available in the dynamic picker for email events
- The Send SMS test field gained a country picker on August 27, defaulting to your sub-account country, so a number typed the way you dial it actually sends
Each workflow can now pick its own email sender domain. Workflow Settings gained a Sender domain dropdown on August 28. It lists every verified dedicated domain on the sub-account plus All domains, which keeps the existing weighted distribution. Choose one and every email action in that workflow sends from it. Until now a promo blast and a booking confirmation went out on the same domain and shared one reputation, so a bad campaign could push receipts into spam. Now reminders and receipts can sit on one domain and outreach on another, and a domain that gets burned costs you only the workflows assigned to it. You can also test a new domain on a single workflow before moving anything else across. Sender details set inside an individual email action still override the workflow setting, and entering a full sender email on a different domain raises a mismatch warning. Only domains verified under Email Services, Dedicated Domains appear in the dropdown, and the dropdown is hidden entirely if the sub-account has none. This is the most consequential deliverability change of the month for anyone running volume through email.
WhatsApp: a full-channel rebuild
- Template management got a full UX revamp with cleaner selection, right-to-left authoring and visible compliance status
- An AI template generator turns a plain-language description into a compliant, pre-categorized template with variables ready to go
- Delivery statistics moved into Workflows: sent, delivered, read and failed counts per action, with message-level detail and export
- WhatsApp analytics reached the workflow AI Assistant on August 14, so you can ask for channel performance instead of digging for it
- Composer reliability improved and Settings loads faster as of August 18, and WhatsApp usernames shipped on August 7
- Together these turn the channel in our WhatsApp guide into something you can actually measure
The channel kept moving through the final week. The template builder now validates variables inline. Placeholders that open or close the message body, broken tokens and unbalanced braces are flagged as you type and block the save, instead of being accepted and then rejected by WhatsApp days later with an error you have to decode. Only numbered placeholders are valid. The default reputation review-request preset ended in a trailing variable and has been cleaned up, so new reputation templates pass validation with no manual edit.
Request contact info closes the WhatsApp username gap. When someone using a WhatsApp username messages you, WhatsApp shares the username and not the phone number. From August 25 you can add a Share contact info button to utility and marketing templates, or send the same interactive request from a workflow action, and one tap writes the number onto the contact. Capture is duplicate-safe: the number is only added when no existing contact already holds it. Username-only leads become records you can call, export and run phone-based automations on.
Messaging limits are now shown at the portfolio level. Meta moved the limit off individual phone numbers and onto the business portfolio, so every number under a portfolio shares one daily cap on unique recipients outside the 24-hour service window. As of August 27 the sub-account display reflects that single shared figure instead of implying each number carries its own quota. The tier ladder changed with it: 2,000 replaces 1,000 as the first step above the 250 starting limit, and it is the on-ramp to automatic scaling. One high-volume number can consume the whole portfolio capacity for the day, so the shared number is the one worth watching.
AI got cheaper, and now you choose the model
Anthropic and Google models joined OpenAI inside the AI Agent action on August 20. The redesigned picker groups Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 alongside Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview and the GPT-5.6 line, each with a short description of what it is built for. Models that support thinking carry a chip, and you set reasoning effort to Low, Medium or High from the same dropdown. Higher effort reasons more deeply on hard tasks. Lower effort answers faster on simple ones. Model choice is now a cost and latency lever inside each action rather than a platform-wide decision.
That matters more because AI Agent actions became up to 50% cheaper to run on August 10. Agentic automations that were borderline on cost math now clear it. Native speech-to-speech Voice AI landed in the chat widget, so site visitors can talk to the agent from our Voice AI guide without placing a phone call. Agencies can now set a fixed price for AI products, which makes AI offers sellable at a predictable margin. Our AI feature guide covers how these pieces fit together.
Ask AI in the mobile app can now run on a schedule. Save a prompt once, choose how often it should run, and the finished conversation is waiting the next time you open the app. Recurring questions like a summary of yesterday new contacts no longer need you sitting in the chat. Elsewhere: Ad Manager gained an Ask AI mode for building and managing campaigns, the AI Builder got version history, imported snapshots carry an Explain This Workflow pill, and AI Studio added website detection to Prospecting audit reports.
Certificate AI opened in beta on August 27. Under Memberships then Credentials you describe the certificate you want and the AI asks clarifying questions, such as orientation, before returning a complete design built from text, frames, signatures, QR codes and the rest of the Certificate Builder elements. Everything stays editable in the builder afterwards, and quick prompts cover course completions, milestones, event participation and training.
Chat widget, communities and local marketing
The chat widget got two upgrades on August 25. Brand Board integration pulls your location brand colors and fonts straight into the Styles panel, and any new color you use is added to a shared default palette available across every widget in that location. Colors already in use carry over the first time you open the builder. Separately, the all-in-one HIPAA compliance setting became a Compliance notice and consent section. You can show a legal notice that needs no visitor action, add a consent checkbox with your own wording for SMS or email opt-in, make it required or optional, pre-check it, and read back in Activity details whether consent was given and the exact text the visitor saw.
Communities got four releases in three days. Posts now have a floating rich text toolbar when you select text, admins can ban spammers straight from the three-dot menu on a post, and tabs can be rearranged and renamed. Pasted links and events render as rich previews. The most useful piece for automation people is a new Requested to Join Group workflow trigger. It fires on every join request and can be filtered by group and by the answers to your membership questions, so approvals and routing stop being manual.
- Meta Pixel tracking for Events, set from Event Settings, with your own mapping of attendee steps to Meta events
- Local SEO heatmaps in Local Marketing Audit now allow up to three heatmaps per report, each with its own keyword, grid size and search radius
- QR codes save to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, for both existing and new codes
- Tags gained categories and colors in Labs, with existing tags defaulting to gray and no category
Ecommerce, ads, migration and agency controls
Direct data import from HubSpot into HighLevel shipped on August 13. Contacts, companies and pipeline data move natively, with no CSV export step. That was the single biggest friction in the switch we analyze across our comparison hub. Google Merchant Center integration feeds store products into Google Shopping natively, a real distribution unlock for the store builder, and stores now embed directly into funnels. Gift cards redeem inside calendar payment collection, and abandoned checkouts gained export, filters and notifications.
Zero-dollar checkout reached Forms and Surveys on August 24. A new toggle on the Sell Products element hides payment fields entirely when an order totals nothing, including when a 100% coupon takes the total to zero. Subscriptions, free trials and anything with a recurring amount still require a card. If the total cannot be confirmed as zero, the card is shown and payment is collected as normal. For forms embedded in a funnel, the funnel-level setting wins.
Numeric and monetary custom fields became real metrics on August 23. Custom fields on contacts and opportunities can be aggregated with Sum, Min, Max or Average in dashboard widgets, custom reports and the Custom Metric module. Deal size, treatment cost or property value can be reported on directly instead of exported to a spreadsheet, and any new custom field appears in the metric picker with no setup.
- Protected snapshot assets can be reused inside your own agency as of August 27. Imported protected assets now work across your sub-accounts and in new snapshots you build, while protection still blocks sharing or reselling to another agency. Mixed snapshots share the eligible assets and exclude the protected ones, and you can see which is which before you share. Protection follows the asset wherever it is imported or reused
- Marketplace app access was simplified on August 26. The auto-approve setting is gone, replaced by a Show only approved apps to sub-accounts toggle plus a single view where every app can be searched, filtered, approved or disapproved
- Announcement banners can be targeted as of August 28. Instead of broadcasting to the whole agency, set agency-level and sub-account-level visibility, then build multi-condition rules on sub-account, country, timezone or user role with AND and OR logic. CTA buttons can open in a new tab, so a linked offer does not pull the user out of the app. Available to all agencies
- SaaS customers can change plan and billing frequency together, monthly to annual or back, in a single move. Proration is not available for these changes yet
- Instagram Explore is gone as an ad placement after the Meta Marketing API v26 change. Live campaigns keep running, drafts drop it automatically on save, and delivery shifts to other eligible placements. No action is required
- Ad Manager added Opportunity Score for Google and LinkedIn campaigns, bulk keyword management, better validation and error handling, and Google Demand Gen campaign upload to the template library
- Billing got quieter: the billing screen now recognizes a card you have already added, and sub-account subscriptions stay in sync with plan changes
- Rental booking pages got clearer calls to action, a cleaner checkout and more accurate invoice line items
- Agencies gained finer control over what sub-accounts can see, plus agency banners and build notifications in the white-label desktop app
- Slack and TikTok Lead Ads moved to the Marketplace architecture, and company custom fields are now supported in snapshots
Dashboards also picked up custom values support and a trend badge color setting, so you decide whether an increase or a decrease counts as good. Events Beta opened in Labs for every account. The Review Received trigger now fires for all integrated review platforms rather than a subset. A contact overlay for opportunities and appointments lets you read and edit contact details without leaving the pipeline, one of the smaller changes with real daily impact. Conditional custom fields arrived for opportunities.
Four arcs define August: AI you can tune model by model, workflow ergonomics, migration friction, and a booking experience clients can actually transact in. The closing days added a fifth and quieter one. Settings that used to be all or nothing became configurable, from chat widget consent to guest fields to sender domains to who sees an agency banner. Frequently Asked Questions
What was the biggest release in August 2026?
Three stand out. Anthropic and Google models became selectable inside the workflow AI Agent action on August 20, full appointment booking landed in the Client Portal on August 17, and direct HubSpot data import shipped on August 13. The first turns model choice into a per-action cost lever, the second changes what clients can do without contacting you, and the third removes the main reason agencies delayed migrating.
Which AI models can HighLevel workflows use now?
As of August 20, 2026 the AI Agent action supports three providers. Anthropic offers Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Haiku 4.5. Google offers Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview. OpenAI offers the GPT-5.6 line plus GPT-5 Nano. Models that support thinking let you set reasoning effort to Low, Medium or High in the same dropdown.
Can one HighLevel calendar offer more than one meeting length?
Yes. From August 25, 2026 a single calendar can carry up to three duration options with one set as the default. Bookers pick a length on the booking page and availability refreshes to show only slots that fit it. It works on web and mobile booking pages, Neo and Classic widgets, in-app booking and the mobile app, and applies when rescheduling. Editing duration options does not change existing appointments.
Why did my HighLevel WhatsApp messaging limit change?
Meta moved messaging limits from each phone number to the business portfolio, so every number under a portfolio now shares one daily cap on unique recipients contacted outside the 24-hour service window. HighLevel updated its sub-account display on August 27, 2026 to show that single shared figure. The tier ladder also changed: 2,000 replaces 1,000 as the first step above the 250 starting limit. One high-volume number can consume the whole portfolio capacity for the day.
Can each HighLevel workflow send email from a different domain?
Yes, as of August 28, 2026. Workflow Settings has a Sender domain dropdown listing every verified dedicated domain on the sub-account, plus All domains for the existing weighted distribution. Pick one and every email action in that workflow sends from it. Sender details set inside an individual email action still override the workflow setting, and entering a full sender email on a different domain raises a mismatch warning. Only domains verified under Email Services, Dedicated Domains appear in the list.
